How we write and check our guides
Our guides are for GCSE students and their parents. They should be accurate, clear and useful even if you never book a lesson. This page explains how each guide is written, checked and kept up to date.
Who is behind the guides
Every guide is published under the name of Claudia Edwards, the tutor and founder of Cloudia Tutoring. Claudia has more than eight years of tutoring experience, a BA (Hons) in Ancient History from King's College London and an MSc in Economics and Management from Bocconi University.
How a guide is written
- A brief. Each guide starts from one question that students or parents ask, and the angle we think is missing from the answers already out there.
- A draft. Guides are researched and drafted with the help of writing tools, including AI writing assistants. A draft is a starting point, never a finished guide.
- A fact check. Every exam fact (dates, paper structure, marks, timings, required practicals, equation sheets) is checked against its primary source, and the date of that check is shown on the guide.
- Claudia's review. Claudia reads every guide in full, checks that the method matches how she teaches and that nothing claims more than it should, and approves it. A guide is not published without her approval, and the date she approved it is shown under the guide.
Sources
We rely on primary sources: the exam boards' specifications and guidance (AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC Eduqas), the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), Ofqual and GOV.UK, and published research we have read in full. The sources for each guide are listed at the end of it. We do not use other tutoring businesses as sources.
Cloudia Tutoring is not affiliated with any exam board, JCQ or Ofqual. Schools choose their own boards, so always check which board your school uses and the current specification.
What we never do
- Invent statistics, quotes, reviews or stories about students.
- Promise grades or results.
- Copy exam questions, mark schemes or extracts from texts still in copyright.
- Publish prices in a guide (they live on the pricing page).
- Accept payment or sponsorship for anything written in a guide.
- Give medical advice. Guides about stress or wellbeing point to official services instead.
Keeping guides up to date
Exam details change from year to year. Guides that depend on them are re-checked at least once a year and whenever a board publishes an update. When a guide changes in a meaningful way, its "Updated" date changes too; small fixes such as a typo do not change the date.
Corrections
If you think something in a guide is wrong or out of date, please tell us: message Claudia on WhatsApp or email hello@cloudiatutoring.com. We check every report against the source and correct the guide as soon as we can.
